SAP NW BW 7.3 - BICS connectors unavailable

Former Member

Hello,

I want to connect SAP NETWEAVER BW 7.3 and XCELSIUS 12.4 via BICS connectors.

Unfortunately it does not work.

I found that RSBOLAP_BICS module does not exist on my BW platform, therefore they do exist on other BW 7.0.1 SP8 system.

Actually I am not able to find what is needed to install or to activate BICS conectors.

Please does someone could help ?

Thanks in advance.

Pls check with basis if they had implemented SAP Integration Kit in Bobj Server

Hello,

There is no connexion with BOBJ server.

XCELSIUS (or Dashboard) works without need of BOBJ SERVER.

And fortunately it is the case for my BW 7.0.1 backend

However BOBJ SERVER has integration kit and it solves nothing.

Thanks.

Hello,

The error message I get on XCELSIUS is "Could not open from SAP".

Any idea ?

Do you know what kind of Support Package or addon these connectors or drivers come from ?

Many Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

First please check whether the prerequisites from note 1400236, 1484847 are fulfilled.

May be this issue resolved with note:1410729.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay. I was out of office.

I read SAP notes you gave. Unfortunaltely it only matters with SAP BW 7.0.1.

I opened a message at SAP: their answer is "we don't understand what you mean".

I thought it was pretty clear : my backend is BW 7.3 and I try to connect with XCELSIUS via BICS connectors.

At that time I found nothing about BW 7.3 and BICS and XCELSIUS.

SAP just wrote the BW minimum version is BW 7.0.1 SP5 and there is a complete compatibility with BW 7.3 without any enhance package or toolkit.

Anyway it is very kind of you try to help me and I am very thankful because at the moment your answers are of much interest.

Regards.

Hi Valerie,

If I'm not mistaken you should use the SAP Integration KIT. The Kit comes with some transports that should be imported into your system (you should ask a basis person to do this).

However, my understanding is that these transports were already part of BW 7.3

Check if the transports solve the problem.

Also, push back on SAP and escalate the OSS message to a higher priority level.

Hi,

Finally I think you probably right even if some documentation mentioned there is no need of integration kit on BW backend. I will try this option.

Thank you.

Hi Valerie,

you will probably need the NW Java Stack Web AS or the BOBJ Web AS in order for the BICS functionality to operate.

Cheers

Hello,

I am not convinced in JAVA STACK installation in as much as it works fine with BW 7.0.1 without any JAVA stack. I mean the connexion is correctly carried out into SAP entry menu in DASHBOARD DESIGN.

It does not work after when I want to rely on SAP BW queries and at that time I agree I need JAVA stack.

For the moment my problem is really to be able to adress BW 7.3 SAP system via SAPLOGON in DASHBOARD DESIGN and as far as I know there is no need of JAVA STACK.

The only difference between BW 7.3 and BW 7.0.1 consists in BICS connectors.

I tried to implement with transport into BW 7.3 environment, unfortunately it seems it is not the right version.

That is the point.

Anyway thanks for answer.

Valérie.
