Hi Experts,
when i loaded data in Cube, the availability for reporting icon was not there, after executing Roll-Up it came.
please provide relevant explanation on this. what it is this.
Hi
Infocube roll up is must for reporting.
Aggregates are created based on system recommendation or you can have aggregates based on reporting column fields combinations.
So get the data in required format and more efficient way we need to have those aggregates filled with data.
So once aggregates are formed and filled initially we need to have them filled every day once data is feed from source system.
You can also have compression on aggregate so data can be fetched from small memory space.
Thanks and regards

Hi,
Compression/collapse:
When you load data into the InfoCube, Each of these requests has its own request ID,
the same data record to appear more than once in the fact table. This is increases the volume of data, and reduces performance in Reporting. so in this senario you need to do compression process. It will aggregate all the same records in a single request. when you do the compression process all request set to '0' and moved to F table to E table.
Advantage is that you can save the memory space and improve the query performence.
Rollup:
Roll up is the process of filling the data into small cubes like aggregates.
We can do compression after rollup, because when we done the compression before rollup, all the requests are set to '0'.
So we will do compression after rollup.
Thanks,
Venkat

Hi,
Please check out this SAP Help link which clarifies why ROLL UP is needed.

Dear Sulochan,
Here is the purpose of Roll-up
When you load new data packages (requests) into the InfoCube, these are not immediately available in reporting for use in an aggregate. In order to supply the aggregate with the new InfoCube data, you first have to load these into the aggregate tables for a set time frame. This process is known as roll up.

Hi,
Straight Explanation:
If your Cube has Aggregate, definitely the request needs to be rolled up to get the Reporting symbol.
If not, automatically Reporting symbol comes in the request tab.
