Dashboard Design 4.0

I'm unable to open Dashboard Design 4.0 after installing, I've installed the SP2 patch 6. When I try to open it, I get a prompt saying 'Xcelsius has stopped working'. Does anyone know how to fix that?

Do you have internet access where the Dashboards is installed

It is not required but it causes some issue due to the proxy settings.

Check this one http://scn.sap.com/community/businessobjects-dashboards/blog/2014/07/07/disabling-web-access-when-da...

Hi Justin,

Change the UAC and DEP settings:

UAC:
- Go to Start -> Run -> msconfig.
- Go to Tools tab -> (Select and Launch) Change UAC settings -> Scroll down to never notify.

DEP:
- Go to the properties of My Computer-> Advanced -> Performance settings -> data exceution prevention -> Select 2nd option "Turn on DEP for all programs nd services except those I select"
Add Xcelsius to the list.

Launch Dashboards.

Thanks,

Hey Ian,

I believe I stumbled upon that thread while attempting to solve my problem but I can't remember.  I gave up and used the nuclear option (reinstalled Windows, etc).  This got me up and running but I'll save this link in case any of my coworkers encounter this problem.

Thanks!

Running on Windows 7 and SAP Dashboard 4.1 SP4 new release you should replace the dll address from system32 to SysWOW64.

Please remark "Helpful" I'll appreciate that.

Hi,

Could you specify where the change in address has to be made?

Thanks

Sometimes Dashboard Design fails to start due to compatibility issues with Excel. Which Excel version are you using?

Also, check at the Task Manager if excel.exe is running in the background before running Dashboard Design. If it is, try ending that process and then run Dashboards.

Regards.

Hey Jose,

I was using 32-bit Excel 2007.  Also this wasn't a case of Excel process running in background or anything simple.  I gave up trying to troubleshoot it and wiped my workstation and after reinstalling Windows and the software, it worked.

Please try to reinstall the tools

Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately I have tried reinstalling many times in many different ways. I've tried installing Dashboard Design then restarting then installing patch 6. I did the same thing and then tried patch 4, then 5, then 6. I tried installing the 4.0 client tools first then I reinstalled Dashboard Design with the patch. It seems like no matter how I try to reinstall I get the same error.

In the error details it says this:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Name: Xcelsius.exe

Application Version: 14.0.2.364

Application Timestamp: 4de9b20a

Fault Module Name: MSVCR80.dll

Fault Module Version: 8.0.50727.6195

Fault Module Timestamp: 4dcddbf3

Exception Code: c0000005

Exception Offset: 00014500

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4

Locale ID: 1033

Additional Information 1: 0a9e

Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

Additional Information 3: 0a9e

Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

So it seems like the MSVCR80.dll library is having problems with something. Something I've got installed? A corrupt registry value? I'm not sure what's going on.

Since I couldn't get it to work on my initial workstation, I tried my second work station and I had trouble there as well ... that one gives a different error. My hope is that I can get things to work on my initial work station.

I am also having the same problem.  No matter which version of Dashboards 4.0 I try to install, I get the same APPCRASH.  Xcelsius 2008 however has no problems installing.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  I don't know what else to do, short of reinstalling Windows.
