mysterious error concerning page header / footer

Former Member

CR2008

VS .Net 2005

I get the following error (I try to translate cause we have german runtime environment):

Page header and footer are too big for this page.
Error in file "Report ...{F8 ... 1DD} .rpt"
Page header or footer longer as one page.

As far as the report has an empty page header about 1 cm high and a footer with just the page number and the printing date within - as well 1 cm high it is difficult to get the reason why the error occurs ...

Fortunately (or should I say irritatingly) it happens not with all printed reports from that .rpt but at least with one issue - but I won't find out what data could be responsible for the error.

Hi Hans,

This problem is due to the default printer you are using.

We have it a lot when a user has a label printer set as default printer and then wants to print an a4 based Crystal Report.

It seems like Crystal Reports wants to change the paper format of the report you are starting to the default paper format defined by the printer.

What you can do to solve this problem is check the Disassociate paper format in the paper settings in your report.

Also what helps solving this problem, is changing the printer when starting the report.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Pieter Jong

Unfortunately CR 2008 does not give me enough info. Please let me know the exact version of CR used.

Hi Ludek,

thanks for the SP's but they didn't help.

You won't believe it: I tried the following:

a) opened the Crystal Designer

b) set the Page Header to suppressed

c) set it back to not suppressed

d) changed the position of the PageNumber in the PageFooter a few millimeters

e) saved the whole thing

Alas: it worked
