SAP R4 or R5? I don't understand...

So...there is R3 4.6b and R3 4.6c.

I see references to R4...and R5.

Which is it? R4 or R5?

What is R4?

There is NO R/4 nor R/5. At least not as a product from SAP.

I Hope You misunderstood SAP R/3, R/3 reffers for Three tier Architecture (Front end,Middleware and Backend)See the link below for more deatils..
