CCM 2.0 Question around deletion of supplier catalogues

Former Member

Hi

When you delete a supplier catalogue, the logs can be seen under editing, but if you look in SM37, a publish is started.

Once this is finished, if I then go to shop and when I looked in the master catalogue (there were 45K items) the items were still showing.

What actually happens or is supposed to happen when you delete a supplier catalogue ?

Thanks

Hi Kay,

The relationship between the Supplier Catalog and the alternate catalogs are as follows:

Supplier catalog - [mapping] - Master Catalog -[mapping] {optional procurement Catalog}

Now if a supplier catalog is deleted, the deletion should also trigger a job to delete the mappings (this step should be seen in the SLG1 logs when the catalog is deleted). In this case, the content is deleted from the Master Catalog authoring version (AI) but not from the SE version until publication.

Sometimes, the connect between the Supplier and MAster are broken, even during the deletion and the items are not removed but exist in the master as orphaned items, this can be checked with the report /CCM/CLEANUP_MAPPING by selecting the option 'Cleanup orphaned items' for the relevant procurement catalog, keeping the test mode flag will allow you to run and verify if any orphaned items exist, if they do, then run the report with the test flag removed and clean them up.

Let me know of the issue stil lexists after this.

Hi jason

Thanks for the info. I've run this and it showed no errors.

We now have an oss message open so I will update that if we have any issues.

Jason,

Apologies for using this message which I know is now closed but the user have a serious problem with duplicate items in the procuremtn catalogue. They have deleted the supplier catalogue and reloaded the scema only but the procurement catalogue still shows several items - not all but quite a few.

I have executed the /CCM/CLEANUP_MAPPING for the procuremtn catalogue and had no errors; however when I executed the program with the option Cleanup Orphaned Target Items for the Master I've got several errors where the item is in the target catalogue but missing in the supplier catalogue.

My question is: can we run /CCM/CLEANUP_MAPPING for the master catalogue? Should the program be run outside working hours or is it safe to run it at any time?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Elisabeta

Hi Elisabeta,

You can cleanup the orphaned items without any knock on effects to other areas, it is safe to do so in normal operative hours also, if an error/lock etc is identified at runtime, the program will let you know

So yes you can go ahead and delete these orphans.

Jason
