PO Closing using Block / Delete line item

Former Member

Hi All,

I have one doubt.

PO Qty = 10, GR Qty = 7 No further GR expected, so i want to close PO.

Shall i close PO by setting delivery completion indicator at Line level & block the line.

Or i have to delete the line item??

I observed, in both these cases, system is allowing me to post GR.

So which one is more feasible & how??

Could you please throw some light..

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jackie

Hi,

As proposed by sap:

To stop the system from proposing a quantity in Transactions MB01 or MIGO and to prevent a GR posting, you can proceed as follows: ( choose any of these)

1. Reduce the purchase order quantity to the previous GR quantity.

2. Block the purchase order item.

(ME22N: Block pushbutton; ME22 Menu -> Edit -> Block)

3.Fill the date field for the 'Latest Possible Goods Receipt' (LEWED) in the purchase order item. If you do this and you enter a GR document after this date, the system issues message M7163, which you must set as an error message in Customizing.

3rd step is proposed.

just want to add one more thing regarding blocking of PO items.

the lock is meant as a short term solution, to restrict postings referencing this item, until a certain issue is cleared.

for example the buyer does not know the exact price when he creates the PO, so he blocks the items to avoid that anyone postes a receipt before he has entered the correct price (as it would cause incorrect stock postings etc.)

Items with a lock are never considered as closed. It even restricts the PO from beeing archived.

Hi,

Just a quick question. I have old intransits that need to be cleared/closed. The PO's can not be complete the standard way as they too old and a lot of the SKU's/Items are no longer available.

The only way i can think of or find is to block the line and close the order, my question is, is this the correct process or should this be completed in another way? If this is correct is there any financial implications this may cause or as mentioned in the comments this isn't considered as closed and restricts the PO from being archived.

Hi Jackie,

Once the Delivery Completed Indicator is checked, in the stock overview of the material "On-Order Stock" will not be displayed for the pending qty. It is also relevant for MRP.

PO Closure like the PR is not supported

Hi,

When you have posted a GR for partial quantity, it is recomended to put the delivery completion indicator not to delete the line PO line items.

If you feel that yoy are not expecting any more quantities against that PO just update the delivery completion indicator and hence this PO will be treated as closed PO.

Thanks,

Satya.

Hi,

You need to click the delivery complete indicator and wait unlit the invoice is paid, then you can mark it for deletion.

You cant delete a PO which has open quantities or which is not fully paid.

Thanks
