Hi Gurus,

If enter country code as US in sales organization address tab got below mentioned error

COMMUNICATION ERROR WITH THE EXTERNAL TAX SYSTEM (VERTEX_MS0018)

Kindly guide us.

Please check your Configuration...

Financial Accounting ->Financial Accounting Global Settings -->Tax on Sales/ Purchase -->Basic Settings ->External Tax Calculation -->Define Logical Destination.

Hi Krishnan,

In US for tax calculation normally Vertex system is used. This is specific for some US clients. when order is created system calls the remote vertex system for evaluating the taxes. You will not be able to maintain the taxes in VK11 transaction for the vertex Tax conditions. As system is not able to connect to Vertex system you are getting the mentioned error. Check the RFC connection of SAP system with Vertex system. Once both are synchronized you will not get this error.

Check the tax conditions at item level which are red in colour lacking values for tax conditions.

Further for sales organization when we create then the new sales org, this information of the new sales org has to be updated in Vertex system. Lacking which you will get the error. Information of sales org, region or US state is also used for taxation purposes.
