Hi All,

I have to create Transport targets and Groups in DEV sys

where i have one SLD for DEV/QUA(XD2) and SLD for PRD(XV2).

I have created TS of RD2,RV2 of type Web AS ABAP

and BS of RD2,RV2.

In DEV(XD2) sys

i have RD2 sys and Transport target is RV2.

I have created a group PRD with RV2

Transport target of RD2---->RV2

whether i need to create TS of XV2 of type System Landscape Directory in XD2?

If so what details i need to enter which is mentioned below.

CIM Server URL:

Object Server:

Description:

Administrative Contact:

Can anyone provide me the Configuration steps for one SLD for DEV/QUA and one SLD for PRD

which has one BS in DEV(XD2) and i need to transport this to PRD(XV2).

Thanks

Sai.

Whatever you configure in SLD dev/qa, it has to be synced to SLD prod. That means: the SLD content of both systems are identical at all time.

Hi Sai,

It is always good practice to register technical system in SLD through tcode RZ70.

Please go through the below link fyr:http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/e7/01503ede925441e10000000a114084/content.htm .

Provide your PI SLD details accordingly and proceed with registering the TS in SLD.

Then you need to create the BS for your PI system in SLD with role integration server.

You are required to create the Transport targets in your prod SLD if you want to move ID objects from your dev/QA to PRD.

Thanks,

Prasanthi.

Hi Prasanthi,

thanks for u reply,

>>You are required to create the Transport targets in your prod SLD if you want to move ID objects from your dev/QA to PRD.

I need clarification on this

I have created a BS: BS_SAPXD2

and Transport target for this BS is given as BS_SAPXV2 in dev SLD.

so when we transport the ID objects say BS_SAPXD2 from dev to prd the BS is represented to BS_SAPXD2.

this is what my understanding.

Whether i need to create the Transport targets and groups in dev SLD or PRD SLD?

Thanks&Regards

Sai

HI Sai,

yes ..you have created the target group correctly

so when we transport the ID objects say BS_SAPXD2 from dev to prd the BS is represented to BS_SAPXD2.

this is what my understanding.

Whether i need to create the Transport targets and groups in dev SLD or PRD SLD?

No business system should be as BS_SAPXV2 when you transport the configuration object ....just crosscheck

check the steps followed in the link for reference:http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b01876ac-abbb-2a10-788e-95a7c5a5aeca?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true

Hi Chichilin,

>>No business system should be as BS_SAPXV2 when you transport the configuration object ....just crosscheck

Ya , its a mistake .

It is BS_SAPXV2.

Whether i need to create the Transport targets and groups in dev SLD or prd SLD?

I have done in dev SLD.

does i need to do it in prd SLD

I think it should be done only in dev SLD?

Correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks

Hi Sai,

You need to create Transport Target in Dev SLD, and duplicate as Source Transport Target in Prd SLD.

HI Sai,

yes.. You need to create Transport targets in Dev SLD and in the same transport group if you click on PRD(SID) then you would be able to see your PRD business system.

Hi Spantaleoni,

Thanks for u r reply,

In my case i have one SLD for DEV/QUA(sys ID : XD2 , Host : dcasws) and one SLD for PRD(sys ID: XV2 , Host : pcasws ).

In my scenario i have 2 BS(1 Web AS ABAP(BS_RD2), 1 Third Party (BS_TD2)).

So in my DEV SLD,

i have created 3 TS for Dev , these sys play role in development

1) XD2 (App role : Integration server)

2) TS_RD2 (Buss role : App sys , Related IS : XD2)

3) TS_TD2 (Buss role : App sys , Related IS : XD2)

and 3 TS for Prd , these play role in Production

4) XV2 (App role : Integration server)

5) TS_RV2 (Buss role : App sys , Related IS : XV2)

6) TS_TV2 (Buss role : App sys , Related IS : XV2)

Totally there are 6 TS in DEV SLD.

So Whether i need to create a total of 6 TS in DEV SLD?

Coming to BS

i have created 6 BS for 6 TS in DEV SLD.

and i have greated 2 Groups DEV , PRD in Business landscape

DEV group belongs

1) XD2 (App role : Integration server)

2) BS_RD2

3) BS_TD2

PRD group belongs

4) XV2 (App role : Integration server)

5) BS_RV2

6) BS_TV2

Transport target for

BS_RD2-->BS_RV2

BS_TD2--->BS_TV2

>>You need to create Transport Target in Dev SLD, and duplicate as Source Transport Target in Prd SLD.

Finally, Whether i need to create 6 TS , 6 BS in PRD SLD as the same way which i have created in DEV SLD.

Correct me if my assumption is wrong.

Thanks

Sai

Hi Sai,

Exactly, You need to create the same 6 TS and 6 BS in PRD SLD, and set the 3 Development BS as Source Transport Target of related 3 Production BS in PRD SLD.

You can also export the TS & BS from DEV SLD and import in PRD SLD.

Hi spantaleoni,

Thanks for u r reply,

>> You can also export the TS & BS from DEV SLD and import in PRD SLD.

This means that, either we can create a replication of DEV SLD in PRD SLD

or we can export the objects from DEV SLD to PRD SLD.

SAP best practice would be to export the objects from DEV SLD and import it to PRD SLD right?

Thanks

Sai.
