Hello,
I know, there is a lot of questions about checking EHP version of SAP installation on this forum. I tried to discover version of one of my systems, but I've got some troubles 😕
This problematic SAP installation consists of:
SAP_BASIS: version 701
SAP_APPL: version 604
SAP_HR: version 600
EA-IPPE: version 400
most of HR-*** modules: version 600
Is it a normal situation to have several different versions on one system?
Is there a module, which can determine whole system EHP version?
Many thanks for any help with this.
Regards,
Konrad

This is EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0 on SAP Netweaver enhancement package 1

So apparently you didn't select any technical HR usage during the task you created in your Solution Manager and hence those components were not updated.

Can be, yes. Do you use HR in that system?
> Is there a module, which can determine whole system EHP version?
The relevant component is SAP_BASIS (for the Netweaver EHP) and SAP_APPL (for the ERP EHP).

Hello,
Markus, many thanks for your prompt reply!

So, is it possible to update (upgrade? ) only part os SAP system? E.g. update BASIS/CORE component to EHP4 and leave HR on EHP1 current level?

Yes, I do.
And one more (maybe stupid) thing:
Is SAP installation "divided" into two parts: SAP NW & ERP6? Can I upgrade only one of those? Is (in this case) SAP NW euqal to BASIS part?

Yes - but usually you want to have the components you use on the same level.

You are already on EHP1. If you want to get to SAP_BASIS EHP2 then you have to upgrade the other components too. Only SAP_APPL 605 will run on SAP_BASIS 702.

I'd like to upgrade this installation to something more...unified.
SAP NW EHP2 + SAP ECC6 EHP5 (in all components) would be perfect, but I wonder if I could do it in steps? First, upgrade NW to EHP2, make some tests and do EHP5 installation a bit later. Or, maybe, it would be better to do it simultaneously?

As I wrote in the sentence before - you can not upgrade Netwaever separately in an ERP system.
If you install EHP5 for ERP then EHP2 for Netweaver is included and mandatory.

Thank you very much for clarifying!
The last one, I promise:
Is it reasonable to upgrade EHP level, if I do not need any new functionalities? Maybe better way is to stay at current EHP level and make package update only? I've read on PAM, that ECC6 will be supported till end of 2015 regardless of EHP level.
I know, I should know the answer by myself but I;m not sure if changing EHP level provides new functionalities only, or maybe there are some changes which I'm not aware of.

You can stay on your current EHP of course. However, in the future you might want to implement other software packages (e. g. CRM 7.0 EHP1) which require a certain EHP-level to work properly for scenarios. In that case you'd be "forced" to upgrade. So if you have the time I'd try to stay on a current level, you don't necessarily need the newest.
