How to Hide a Dimension from an InfoChart

For an InfoChart that is based on a data-source containing two dimensions, is there a way to hide one of those dimensions from being displayed in the chart?

I have a Data-Source (based on a .unx IDT universe) that populates an InfoChart. The Data-Source contains a dimension-name and its corresponding dimension-ID, and measures/metrics that are aggregated on the dimension (See the screenshot below - 'Date' is the dimension name and 'Day ID' is the ID).

Inside the InfoChart I want to display only the Dimension name but I want to be able to find the corresponding ID when I perform a selection inside the InfoChart. The only way that I can do this is to add the ID to the Data-Source.

Inside the initial-view of the data-source, it appears that I can hide one of the dimensions:

However, this does not seem to take effect when the data is loaded into the chart:

Inside the 'Chart Configuration' property, there is no way to remove the second, dimension value (the ID):

When the chart renders in the browser it is displayed with both dimension values (name and ID):

I've tried this with with a Treemap, Bar Chart (w/ two axes), and Column Chart (w/ two axes), but the behavior is the same for all of these options.

Thank you in advance.

Well, a work around is to show the description first and then the ID (but not leave enough room for the ID) - see below

Also see Susan's idea on Idea Place - not exactly the same, but something similar: https://ideas.sap.com/D33317

Hello Tammy:

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I'm not sure if there is a solution for tree-maps (please see below).

I wonder if there is a way to hide this via CSS, but doing so would also require hiding the ID/second-dimension from the tool-tip as well. I'm not sure if that's feasible.

Thank you,

Here's how the tree maps are for me in 1.6 SP4 (released last week):

I don't know of any easy options on hiding the tooltips. Perhaps some extensions might do this - see https://analytics-extensions.enter.sap

Hi Tammy

How were you able to suppress the second dimension from appearing in the Treemap?

Thank you,

- Knoa

Hello Knoa - I didn't do anything special - what you see is what you get on the screen; but remember I am on 1.6 SP4 - perhaps download and try that?

I was inspired by this post, and I found some CSS to make a single row in the tool-tip invisible without taking up space:

table.v-tooltip-dimension-measure tr:nth-child(2) {
	display:none !important;
}
