Connection for efashion

I am using BO4.0. I have installed client in my Machine. Now I am importing the efashion Universe. Its giving me connection error. I have tried creating System DSN in my machine. But I didnot get MDB file for efashion universe. In privious version we used to get these Demo universes files in DataConnetion folders But here I didnt get any such file.

Can some please help me out to know if there are any changed in BO 4.0 version to get the mdb.

Hi,

You should get them in the webi subfolder of the samples folder in you BO40 client installation directory.

Default will be

C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Samples\webi

Thanks for your reponce.

I could not get any such files under the sample folder. I have only 2 folders insite it EN and Customds.

There is no database sample.

I looked in the XI31 directory, not the 40 one...

I've checked the collaterals directory too, but could not find it in the client installation either.

It may be on the server installation tho, since the universe is still there, may be you can ask for it.

The universe itself didn't change, so if you still have one from XI31, you can use that too.

How do You find a solution to this problem?

I have just installed BO 4.0 client tools, and I can see the efashion universe in universe design tool, but I do not have any connection. this was a part of the installation before. I just got new computer so I do not have any old connection to efashion database.

How can I make one?

And where can I get database?

Hi,

I wouldn't focus on efashion too much. the old efashion was access .mdb (32 bit only application and middleware)

with the BI4.0 platform being 64-bit (i.e. for webi Infoview) , you're not going to be able to get Access to work easily on the Server. Sure, it'll work in 32bit on your Client Tools, but not when you export and test via Web..

the workaround is to restore this DB into SQL server 2008 and use a 'proper' database doing forward.

It actuall a very good excercise when learning BI 4.0, but if you are a user, rather than a developer, it is probably more trouble than it is worth.

Actually, if you need a demo source - I'd recommend using Ms Adventure Works sample db on SQL Server 2008,

Hi,

Sorry no, there is no such content available externally. But it is a fun excercise to learn.

You should contact Microsoft for the DB samples, yes they exist.

Hi everybody

I just wrote a blog about "BO 4.0 FP3: get eFashion and other MS Access datasources working". Please read here: http://wp.me/p2nNXm-W

The summary of it:

1. On a BO 4.0 FP3 server install MS Access 2010 Redistributable 64bit
2. Create necessary 64bit ODBC connection
3. Modify your universe connections to point to the Access2010 driver
4. have fun with efashion 😉

The bad thing is: As BO 4.0 SP2 doesn't support Access 2010 I don't know a way how to make it work there...
