Cost Center in regards to PM.

Hi,

Could any body tell me when i am going to create a functional location then which cost center will be used.It will be a production cost center or maintenance work center.In case of equipments cost center is of maintenance category so when i will create an order on that equipment then cost after settlement will go to the maint. cost center.Is it right to use a production cost center in case of functional location when i am only interested in maint. cost because the cost after settlement will go to the production cost center in case order is created directly on functional location.Has the cost center assignment on functional location any relation with PP Module.Pls.help.i am a bit confused.

    Hi,

    Can you please specified your question?

    You need to maintain production cost center in you technical object in organization tab. This will be copied in your pm order from your technical object. If you settled PM order, this cost center comes in your settlement rule.

    Maint cost center is assigned to your maintenance work center which you are using in operations in order. So all maintenance cost is booked in that cost center only.

      this is case of master data creation which cost center category is utilized in case of functional location creation.Whether production or maintenance.

    Hi,

    Logically, Functional Location is the area, where certain group of equipment are installed. Based on operational convenience, this can be divided by operation also like machining, molding etc., OR on product like tyre, tube etc.

    Hence, for functional location, the common maintenance cost center may be assigned, if available, ensuring that it is not carried over to equipment, installed at that location.

    Otherwise, CC may be left blank, if No maintenance orders/notifications are going to be created on functional location.

    Basically CC assignment is to analyse the cost and based on your organisation's FICO requirement, please proceed.

      Thanks James for your reply.So if i am only interested in maintenance cost then cost center category will be of maintenace.This maintenance cost center category will be not be of any equpment.It should be a general maintenance cost center responsible for carrying out any maintenance on functional location directly.
