Hi Anup,
This question has been raised many a time in the past.
Please go through the below mentioned blog that clearly explains your doubts.
:[JDI Software vs. JDI Content|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2598] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];
Also go through the below mentioned thread, Where Ervin Szolke has very nicely explained the same query that you have.
In short,
Your NWDI must be of greater version than your NWDS instances.
So, I would suggest you to have NWDI of version...
7.0.SPX on the server.
As in your landscape you do not have any higher version NWDS in use.

Dear Anup,
SAP Portal server and NWDI components version and SP level shoud be same to avoid any conflict.
I think you should use NWDI component (CMS, DTR, CBS) 7.0 SP20 as per your server version

Hi,
At the time of installation you have a check box which will make the server a portal server or used for NWDI. So I believe your NWDI version should be same as your portal version and it is not mandatory to upgrade NWDI though portal is upgraded to latest patch level.
Hope this helps.
Cheers-
Pramod
