Anyone Using GPFS on AIX?

Was curious if anyone has adopted this filesystem on their SAP/AIX system yet. We are doing a proof of concept with AIX and were investigating whether it made sense or not to go with GPFS, so we could lay down the foundation and make it easier if we were to move to DB2 Purescale later.

Our VAR has many customers using GPFS with the BW Accelerator, but I wanted to see if anyone else has deployed currently in an SAP environment.

Thanks,

Derek

Hey Derek,

We were looking into this but did not go that way in the end, no good reason - just seemed to be a small install base

There is some DB2/GPFS/pureScale info on AIX Mind eg http://www.aixmind.com/?p=2313

but its not really customer testimonial type info

Thanks guys for your helpful responses. We ended up going JFS2 for now. There were too many dependencies to solve with third party products that we had already purchased (backups, DR).

BWA is running Linux, not AIX.

But nevertheless, GPFS can be used in a RAC environment:

Note 527843 - Oracle RAC support in the SAP environment

so you can use it even if you don't use RAC.
