Minimum requirement to upgrade 46c to ECC6 ehp5

Hello,

Apology to ask a basic question which was asked many times previously.

I have gone through almost all the thread related to upgrade requirement but the responses are to refer upgrade guide. I have gone through the upgrade guide twice but haven't found any section related to minimum requirement for 46c or ECC5.

Is there any fact sheet available from SAP about the minimum support pack & Kernel requirement to upgrade 46c / ECC5 to ecc6 ehp5? I am not looking any document for the add-ons ST* or third party but for the SAP standard (ABAP, BASIS, APPL etc)

Regards,

-Sunil

Hi Sunil,

As you are on 4.6C i assume you would do the Unicode conversion along with the Upgrade.

There is no minimum support pack requirement.Please reffer note 928729

Source Release Target Release CU&UC Guide

-

4.6C (no minimum SP) -> NW 7.00 (SP 15-21): CUUC46C_to_NW700SP17.zip

4.6C (no minimum SP) -> NW 7.00 (SP >= 22): CUUC46C_to_NW700SP22.zip

4.6C (no minimum SP) -> NW 7.01 (SP >= 07): CUUC46C_to_NW701SP07.zip

4.6C (no minimum SP) -> NW 7.02 (SP >= 05): CUUC46C_to_NW702.zip

However while performing upgrade if you would like to use ASU then there is a prerequisite for ST-PI addon

Prerequisites

Your source release SAP system must contain add-on ST-PI with one of the following minimum levels

2005_1_<46C/620/640> SP08

2005_1_700 SP06

Regarding Kernel its always advised to have the latest kernel before starting Prepare.

Please go through the Upgrade guide thoroughly.You will find most of the answers there itself.

Thanks Ershad for your time, the note you mentioned for CU&UC, I think the same for without UC but not sure.

Hi Sunil,

Upgrade to ECC does not require a minimum support package of the start release.

(Exception: The component ST-PI must be on support package 8.)

However, it is important to consider what has to be included in an upgrade in order to not "downgrade" the existing functions. In this regard, support packages have a so-called equivalence attribute that tells you to which SPs from lower or higher releases these SPs are equivalent

Hi Sunil,

There is no minimum support packages required in source systems such as R/3 4.6C or ECC 5.0 before upgrade to ECC 6.0 EHP5.

U must have latest SPAM update, tp, R3trans in source systems .

In rare cases, when u execute upgrade prepare script or Checks phase of STARTUP script may detects that in source system support packages for Service Tools Plug in like ST-PI or ST-PI/A and or Plug-In basis i.e. PI-BASIS is too low.
