Address Directories Installation with Designer clients

Hi All, We have used Address directories on our server and used Designer from that server. Now we want developers to use Designer client from their laptop instead of logging into server. We have Address directories installed on our server. Do we need to install those Address Directories on developers laptop too? I think yes otherwise JOBs would failed validation on laptop but wanted to confirm.
