BW compress on BI 7.0 for Oracle 11g

We are upgrading BW 3.5 to BI 7.01 with unicode conversion. We need export/import the DB during CU&UC, it is a good opportunity to compress the huge DB -- size is 15T!

According to note 1289494 & 1436352, Oracle 11g supports advance compression (COMPRESS FOR OLTP).

My questions:

1) Oracle advance compression ONLY supports OLTP system, does NOT support BI, right?

2) If this is not supported, we can choose BI compression (F fact tables -> E fact tables) based on oracle 9i, this is done by BW functionality AFTER system installation, not DURING SAP system importing, right?

3) If advance compression for tablespace is supported for BI, then how can I identify which table should not be compressed? I know fact table & queue table is not recommended. Is there a full list? If I set COMPRESS for whole tablesapce without the exception, we will get error or just performance issue for those exception tables?

(below is quoted from an example...).

negcpr:ARFCSSTATE ARFCSDATA ARFCRSTATE TRFCQDATA TRFCQIN TRFCQOUT TRFCQSTATE QRFCTRACE QRFCLOG

Thanks in advance.

James

      Hi Huaiyuan Ji,

I admit you have found good answers by yourself for which I have been trying to look around but no clear details on BW.

So for BW do we have compress manually? Does it compress all BW tables? any limitations?

      Appreciate your response

      thanks,
