How to make damage/cause codes field mandatory while closing a notification

Dear All,

Our requirement is to ensure that end user must maintain damage / cause codes while closing a notification. I

If I just make field selection mandatory it will force the initiator to put the damage / casue at the time of notification creation which is not logical and not possible because initiator is not technical. We want that when maintenance engineer closes/ completes the notification, directly or through maintenance order ,then the system should ask mandatory inputs in the fields of damage / causes / codes.

Is it possible in standard configuration or I have to go for Abap.

Any suggestion, please.

Which notification transactions are you referring to that you want the fields filled when closing ?
