Sales order packing proposal

The sap.help.com documentation suggest (to me at least) that in case we would use a packing proposal in the sales order, this proposal is forwarded to the delivery. However, during testing, I dont see anything transferred.

The idea behind it:

Customer sends orders through IDOC's and packing instructions are added to it. These instructions can vary so that is why I cannot setup instructions in our system. The idea is that the customers instructions will end up as packing proposal in the sales order and from there are distributed to the delivery.

Anyone a suggestion?
