Client Copy help

Former Member

Hi All,

I'm trying to do a client copy of my 000 client so that I can play around with CUA. When I go to do the local client copy it says :

Target client is productive and protected against

client copy.

Does this mean I can only do client copy on IDES systems? How can I do a client copy on my system? Thanks!

Check the settings in table T000 via SE16 or SM30.

Hi Charles,

For Client 000, the clietn role is "SAP Reference". And in the Protection section it says:

Protection Level 1: No overwriting.

Should I change the Client role to Demo or something else?

Hi!

Your messages sounds like you tried to overwrite client 000 - mixing source and target?

Don't change settings of client 000 - it's always good to know, where you can find correct, unchanged values (after playing a while and producing a big mess...).

Just choose a 'free' client as target, e.g. 100 (or whatever you like, but not 066).

Regards,

Christian

I agree with Christian. Do not change client 000. Pick another client and set the settings in table T000 appropriately to allow you to client copy from 000 to your new client.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for all the replies. I have only client 000, 001 and 066.

What I'm trying to do is setup the CUA. I want the CUA to be my 000 client and I'm just trying to do client copies so that I have child systems to connect to.

How can I create new clients to act as the child systems?

This may be a beaten subject, but make sure you run transaction scc4 first, create a new client, then log onto that client and run transaction sccl to copy the client into the new one.

In transaction scc4 you should be able to create a new client and specify what settings you want (ie: copy protection, etc.).
