Proposal: Posting short summary of problem with solution

Fellow Web Dynpro developers,

what do you think about the following proposal:

if you got help from the group that finally solved your problem, wouldn't it be a good idea to close the thread by

shortly:

- describing the original problem

- describing the (most elegant) solution

- rewarding points to all who contributed

Hi Armin,

a good proposal, but unfortunately, i'm afraid, it will not work. Many of the posters seem to be that lucky to get the answer(s) they hoped for, that they simply vanish (at least until the next question). If you are lucky, you and all the other helpful hands around here get some points (still not really important from my point of view), but i guess, nearly nobody will repeat the problem description or will write something like a solution summary.

Much more annoying is the "self-answerer", who posts something like "Hey, i found it by myself" without explaining the solution (even in a few words), so that others with the same problem can't take advantage of it in the future.

Yes, unfortunately I must agree with Stefan. The amount of hit-and-run stuff we are seeing is very high. One has to accept that this group can not even be preached for, as they have already grabbed what they wanted and disappeared over the horizon. In a way it difficult question of what are the primary goal of SDN: support versus to distribute knowledge.

The only solution that we have found to work is a mental "whitelist" onto which people that stick around and understand the concept of give-and-take are placed. Their new questions are then the ones into which we put extra effort to solve, or build examples. The rest of the questions are handled at "default" effort. Newbies are given automatically an initial credit; they decides themselves their destiny.

Should we not take this discussion to maybe "SDN Suggestions" (closest relevant forum). Maybe other people also have some ideas? Can I move it?

Hi,

I think it is also good idea to prepare FAQ list on commonly occured problems with solutions and post at SDN. This way any newbie or with simple problems can try the solutions suggested before posting into the forum.

I started with creating a FAQ list on Web Dynpro. Unfortunately it requires lot of efforts and time to complete it. If few of regular contributers form as group to edit the document, then we will be able to create WEB Dynpro FAQ and post it to SDN.

If the above is not feasible, I am planning to post 100 Q&A on Web dynpro (might be in April) so that others can audit the answers and regular FAQ can be sent to SDN team.

Regards,

Raju
