SAP Gui 7.20. A question about the location of saplogon.ini

Hi

The new location of saplogon.ini gives us some problems because the user is not known on the installation time.

We want to have a common saplogon.ini in c:Windows combine with the users own entries in %APPDATA%SAPcommonsaplogon.ini

When SAP logon I started the first time, a new saplogon.ini should be created in %APPDATA%SAPcommon

According to note 1426178 the registry entry ConfigFileOnServer is set to c:WindowsSapLogonTree.xml

The c:Windowssaplogon.ini contains all the common entries.

The c:WindowsSapLogonTree.xml contains

And all entries are twice on the List view and Tree view tabs. One of the entries is locked, and the other can be changed.

If I replace APPDATA%SAPcommonsaplogon.ini with an empty saplogon.ini, everything looks fine.

But the problem is the user is not known and I can only copy to the c:Windows directory

Hope someone can help me and explain what Iu2019m missing.

Best regards

René

We create a system variable and point tot he location of the saplogon.ini file.

Example:

Variable Name

SAPLOGON_INI_FILE=C:\Program Files\SAP\saplogon.ini

Then that is where the file then resides for all users.

Thanks, but are you then merging common entries with the users own entries ?

Or du you only use one saplogon.ini on the frontend ?

We only use 1 saplogon.ini on the frontend and end users are unable to modify that file. Only Admins or SAP staff are permitted.
