Extracting data from a SAP transaction using vba code from ms excel

Hello all,

I really hope someone can help me with this issue.

I want to be able to extract data from a SAP transaction using vba code. The final goal is to have a macro which will run from time to time connecting to that SAP transaction, running that transaction (with a date filter), and afterwards export the data to an excel file, creating new files each time the macro is run. Basically what one would do without the macro. Just connect to sap, write down the transaction, choose the filters/variants/layouts he/she pleases, execute the transaction, and finally export it to excel.

I've already read some material and I think something that might help would be to clearly explain to me how to program a background job on sap. I can't use abap programs since I don't have authorization, but perhaps an excel macro could be considered an external command which I could use to activate that job. The thing is...I have no idea how to do that.

Can somebody please help me?

Best regards,

Daniel
