Host name 13 character

Hi

I read some previous post noting that SAP will not change the 13 char limitation. How do I change the host name on my laptop? and will it have some side effects Windows updates etc.

    Hi Jean-Marc,

    For windows XP you can change the hostname of your computer by right clicking on My Computer icon and selecting Properties>Computer Name.

    If the computer is a work computer I would discuss with your Network Admin team as the potential problems that you might encounter after changing the hostname (i.e not being able to log onto your network. etc)

    I'm not sure how this might effect windows update etc as I don't use that service.

      Jean-Marc, follow Daniel's guidance and when changing your hostname no harm should be done to your system. In case of any issue's appear after that change, just check the hosts.ini file in your Windows/System32 directory for any inconsistencies related to the name change. Tiest
