Can not delete the query

Hi all,

I have a query and a workbook including that query. However, now, I decide to change the name of the query. So I save it as another name and try to delete the old one.But I can not delete it.I change the data provider of the tables in the workbook as new named query to stop using the old named query.Although I did that, I still get the message:"The query can not be deleted." because it is still seen as if it is used in the workbook.

Sunny

Hi,

Please check the link:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f1/0a5680e09411d2acb90000e829fbfe/content.htm

In this there is a point mentioned.

3. You can also delete the query. In the Query Designer menu bar, choose Query ® Delete. You can delete the query only if it is no longer being used (that is, if it is not being used in any workbooks, Web templates, report, or broadcast settings).

Amit

Dear Amit,

I know how to delete the query. The problem is that although I do NOT use the query, I get a message shortly saying that "you are using query in the workbook, so you can not delete it".But as I told you, I checked the workbook and I do NOT use the query in the workbook.I used to use the query in the workbook but it is no longer being used now.

Hi,

1) Check if some of your old query elements are still being used in the workbook (like for text elements, Navigation Panes etc.)

2) If you goto metadata repository in RSA1 and select Query - you can find your query there. Click on it and you will get the list of workbooks where the query (or any of its elements) are being used.

3) If you have changed the data provider value with a new query for each of your tables, just goto the workbook settings once and see if there is only one data provider with the new query assigned. If not, change it.

Again check InfoArea <<<<<<<<chk quey there <<<<<< open it,<<< saveas( RENAME) it.

Dear Sunny,

Did you try below as it seems your system is closed for changes. In that case you can follow the below steps to

make the changes without opening the system.

a. RSA1 -> Transport Connection

b. Object Changeability button

c. Object ELEM (Query Element) is set to 'Not changeable'. Right-click

and change to 'All changeable'

d. Now ELEM object type is set to changeable -> try to delete the

query again.

Thank you very much Shruti. Thanks to your 3rd suggestion, I found a very small but important detail.I realised that the query is still in the workbook although I do not use it now(the query is not used but in the list of the data providers).Displaying the data provider list in the workbook settings solved my problem.

Hi,

In order to be able to delete queries this is necessary to manage the

authorization objects S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1 in this matter.

Please check note 540720.

Alternatively you can delete the unnecessary queries by transaction

RSZDELETE.

Also refer to the link:

Hi Amit,

I think it is not about the authorization.Because I did not assign it to any role.I also tried rszdelete but I get the same message.I tried to close analyzer and query designer and open them again but it did not work.

Hi,

maybe you have to create a BEx transport request first. Please check this document:

http://dev.diditho.net/2010/07/05/sap-bw-copy-delete-query-and-workbook/

In the end of this document you can see a paragraph called "Note for Deleting Query" and in the end of this paragraph you can see all of the instructions.

Hope it helps.

Best regards.

Simone.

Hi Sunny,

try to open that query with query designer and check where-used list (query tab -> where used-list). If it is still used in other workbooks, you have to delete it as you did before. If it is not used, try now to click on delete button (query tab -> delete).

Hope it helps.

Best regards.

Hi Simone,

My query is used only in one workbook(say workbook A).When I try to delete the query, I get the message that I have written before and in the details of the message, I see that the query is seen as if it is used in the workbook A. However, although I was using it as the data providers of some tables in the workbook A, now I change it and not using it anymore. So I don't understand why I get the message.Because, now, I don't use the query in anywhere.

Try to use transaction RSZDELETE.

Hope it helps.
