BEx query not shown in BO 4.0; BICS

Hi,

I have a sample BEx query designed in Query Designer 7.x; I would like to use this query with Web Intelligence of BO 4.0. However, the query is not being displayed.

In CMC -> Authentication we have entered our SAP BW system and we are getting the roles imported. So the connection seems to work.

In the query I have turned on the option "Allow External Access to this Query" (but I think this isn't necessary for BICS?).

However, the query isn't displayed when creating a new WebI document based on BEx. Do I have to do some more steps?

Thanks!

Edit: I now created a new OLAP connection, our BO server can see the query and cube. But: I don't see this OLAP connection in Web Intelligence Rich Client. I am using the administrator login and have full access.

hi,

problem: because of an error in the BI 720 Query Designer the "Allow external access to this query" flag is not stored. You set it, you save, and the next time you open again the query - it is gone. With a

3.x Query designer it works.

Result: you cannot see 7.x queries created / changed with this version. (But 3.x querys and older 7.x queries) in the BO query designer.

Solution: Install latest patches for the BI 7.20 query designer, set the flag, save the query - and open the query again, that if it was really set

Hi,

1. Allow external access to query in Query Designer advanced tab

2. Did you created the OLAP connection in CMC with PreDefined Option? Only this worked for me.

You should be able to see the Query / InfoProvider. Let me know if you still face any issues and how are you maintaing the connection.

Thanks.

Solved! This error message com.google.protobuf.UninitializedMessageException is a bit generic one.

My problem was access rights. I changed my user/password and forgot to change the user/password of the connection. So I changed it in the connection parameters in IDT (Information Design Tool) and created another connection just to garantee the test.

Renitialized the IDT and it worked in both connections (new and old one).

When you say "Query is not displaying" is it not active and hence you cannot select it (grayed out) ... right?

Hi,

I have created 2 OLAP connection in CMC with SSO and Predefined. (does not work with prompt).

I can see the list of queries from cube with predefined connection, but all are gredout!!. what could be the reason?

With SSO connection i get following error -

com.google.protobuf.UninitializedMessageException: Message missing required fields: bytesValue

Any input is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Go to the Bexquery -> Advanced Tab and make sure Enable external access is checked and save the query. This should resolve the issue
