I am not referring to the precalculated value sets, I am referring to the options of of calculate data or calculate HTML for web browser on the parameter tab for precalculated web templates.

Pre-calculated template supports limited navigations ie you will be able able to use a drop-down box for any filter values, Pre-calculated data doesn't support any navigation. Pre-calculated templates are build when the reporting agent package is run, but for the pre-calc data option the template ie the HTML is build when the user access the templates.

If you use the download scheduler to download as HTML files the pre-calculated template option should be used else MS Excel.

Thanks.

Hi,

pre-calculated value sets -

1. when analyzing target groups since you can specify a fixed value.

2. when complex selections are involved such as with a Top n inquiry, used to strongly improve query performance.

3. In place of variables that are filled from a query event (replaced from a query event).

pre-calculated Web template -

The Reporting Agent allows you to pre-calculate Web templates, that is, HTML documents with BW-specific placeholders, in the background. In the Web browser, if you call up a Web report that is structured on the basis of a pre-calculated Web template, you can access pre-calculated data without having to execute an OLAP query. This means that access time is considerably reduced as is the workload on the application server.

Hope this helps
