EHP5 - Service for create skill profile not found in ESS

Former Member

Hi,

1) There was this standard service in ESS 1.41 (EHP4) for an employee to update his/her own skill profile (ESS->Career and Job->Skills Profile) Now with ESS 1.50 (EHP5), this link is missing. Any idea how is skills update possible via ESS in 1.50.

2) In EHP4, there was this role 'Talent Development Specialist' through which employee's appraisal document could be created. With EHP5, SAP recommends not to use Talent Development Specialist role, but to use only Talent Management Specialist role.

In Talent Management Specialist 1.51 (for EHP5), there is no service available to create appraisal documents for employees. Any idea what is the recommended approach to create appraisal documents in this new version.

Hi Siddharth,

Thanks for your response. I understand that these services are missing in EHP5. But would you know if SAP has suggested/recommended an alternate way how to access these services?

Especially these 2 are in our current scope and we can't just figure out where it is in EHP5 portal ! 1) ESS->Update Profile and Profile Match-up 2) Talent-> Create appraisal documents (which was present in Talent Dev Specialist role)

my understanding of the sills-update iview is as follow:

1. till ehp4 its based on wd-java

2. in ehp5 -> it is dropped by SAP, for the following reasons I think:

a. in the talen mamangement specialit role you have a specific wdabap service which allows ess users to maintian their skills.

b. that way customers wil be more prone to adapt to talent management then they were before,..

the baove are my assumptions only,.. based on common logic,.. however if you stil want to have the ehp4 specific wd-java skills iview you may go ahead and use it in your ehp5 ess role. It should work like a charm.

You need to import the package from these below now where skills profile is integrated into the system ie note 1577068

The following applications are available in the Employee

Self-Service (ESS) Java portal role, but not in the NWBC role:

- Address Book

- Who's Who

- Org. Chart

- Logon and related applications

- Skills Profile and Profile Matchup

- Life and Work Events

read the note 1521466 and 1577068 for more information

Hi,

Please find the details received from SAP. Posting it here for the benefit of larger audience:

within the new talent management application you should find all

the functionality that was avalilabe in the (old) TDS role:

The performance management parts can be found in the talent management

section of the Manager Self Service role. There you have access to

the PM documents (predefined or flexible) and the status overview.

In addition there is the Talent Assessment application which can be

used to maintain potential assesssment or talent group nominations.

Competencies can be maintained via the talent profile (ESS or Manager o

r TMS).

For succession planning (identifying key positions and assign

successors to it) and maintaining the job architecture (Job -> Job

Family -> Functional Areas) there exist two solutions.

First there are browser based applications developed and distributed

by our partner company Nakisa. There is an additional TMS role

provided by Nakisa which includes theses services.

For customers who don't have a Nakisa license we have SAP GUI based

applications to maintain succesion planning data (transaction

HRTMC_PPOM) and the job architecture (transaction HRTMC_PPOC).

You can integrate these transactions to the TMS role

as well.

In addtion there are a lot of BW reports available (shipped via the

HCM content) to analyze the talent management data.

Therefore I think the new TMS solution has a lot of advantanges and

new functionality compared to the old TDS role.

The only thing you should notice is that the new talent management

solution is based on a new data model whereas the old solution

reuses some parts of the already exiting E-recruiting data model.

There are some migration reports available to transfer existing data

from the old to the new model (e.g. reports RPTMC_MIGRATE_SUCCESSION or

RPTMC_MIGRATE_TALENT_GROUPS).
