EVDRE - color cell based on security

Hi

I'm trying to sort out exactly how to color cells in my BPC report based on the security that is set up in BPC.

For instance if I have 12 periods and user A accesses the report who has access to all periods then period 1-12 should all be white indicating that this user can post into the periods, if however user B access the report who has access to periods 4-12 then only period 4-12 will be available.

I'm trying to do this as it is based on input schedules so that users all know first what they can enter so they don't do all the work to have the security layer deny the change.

I can't seem to work out how to do this. The only option that I seem to have is set up categories as a version control on time then I can just shade based on the name of the category and after data has been populate copy the data back to essentially a master cube. But this then requires my users to always know what version of category to use which I can't see as being a good idea.

What have other peoples experiences been?

Thanks in advance

Jason

Hi .

I am not clear whether you want to color based on the different periods or only certain cells.

I think you can use conditional formatting in excel based on formula to achieve the coloring.

The main issue would be to comeup with table in excel to map up which color points to which periods.

Hi Sachin

I want all the unlocked cells to be one color and all the locked cells to be another color, so it is different colors based on different periods.

I understand about conditional formatting and have that on a few templates the only issue is that on this template I have no reference to what is a locked period. So if the periods get locked in the security area then I want the cells to color based on that information and I don't know how to collect this information onto my report

Thanks

Hi,

For doing this kind of formatting, you first need the lock information. This needs to be fetched using EVLCK function. Then based on the result, you can use conditional formatting.

Hope this helps.
