working with PIR

Dear all,

Please help me to map the below scenario :-

Its a repetitive manufacturing. I am generating PIR for monthly production from MD61. AND I am able to do the production and confirm . Planning strategy is 40 , depending upon the sales order internal order is generated for production.

Here is my doubts-----

1. suppose there is 1000 nos of PIR for this month and by the end of the month I am not able to produce the whole qty, in this case what will happen -- Shall I have to create the PIR for remaining qty once again in next month or it can be carry forward to the next month .How to proceed in this case.

2. As per my knowledge in Strategy 40 PIR will be consumed only when sales order will be generated , so even If I have finished the production it will show in the requirement list MD04 till delivery happens. Am I right or wrong ?

3. How to see the old PIRS and if I want to generate a production report what logic should be adopted in REM.

4.When I go to MD62 It shows the req from req from Current date it does not give you option of doing anything which is in past for ex if there is some qty balance in that PIR which is in past than how to do that.

I think I have enough querries in this post to bother you please answer it will and sorry if I have asked any silly question.

Regards

Mona

Dear Mona,

1.For checking the history of PIR's for a list of material, check in MD63,by entering " * " in the requirements plan and select the radio

button for requirements plan, mention only the plant and remove the requirements type field, mention the planning horizon (For Ex:

01.08.2011 to 05.09.2011).

Now after entering, select each line item and in the top menu bar ->Goto->Item History.(assuming for all the user id's the history

indicator check box is included for T.Code MD61,MD62).

2.The PIR's maintained for any requirement type in MD61 may not always be met or produced completely for the month,In this case

you can reorganize the Independent.req using T.Code MD74 or else manually adjust for each month(by deleting the complete PIR

for the month and adding the left over PIR for the next month).

3.Whenever you execute MD62,check the starting date(you can mention some past date if required to check the PIR's that lie in

the past date).

4.Coming to production report in REM,there are limited standard SAP reports in the system for which planned order tracking or

planned order wise component consumption is not possible.

check and revert back with your queries.

Mona,

Shall I have to create the PIR for remaining qty once again in next month or it can be carry forward to the next month .How to proceed in this case.

It depends upon your business marketplace, and the consumption parameters you have entered. Most strategy 40 companies that do a month-by-month forecast desire that by the end of each month, all PIRs will have been consumed. If this is your business' model, then you delete the unconsumed PIRs.

Other strategy 40 companies wish instead to 'level load' the factory throughout the year, and build a stock of FGs inventory, perhaps to in response to a seasonality issue. In this case, they don't delete the unconsumed forecasts.

As per my knowledge in Strategy 40 PIR will be consumed only when sales order will be generated , so even If I have finished the production it will show in the requirement list MD04 till delivery happens. Am I right or wrong ?

You really need to log onto a system and experiment with such issues, instead of asking in a forum. Or, read the online help which describes when PIRs are consumed, when they are reduced, and how they can be deleted.

How to see the old PIRs

The same way you see the new PIRs > MD63.

I want to generate a production report what logic should be adopted in REM

It depends upon what you want to see in a production report. Try COOIS for a start.

When I go to MD62 It shows the req from req from Current date it does not give you option of doing anything which is in past for ex

??? On the first screen, enter the dates between which you wish to make changes.
