Heterogeneous System Copy from Windows/SQL to Linux/DB2

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement to build the new CRM 7.1, ERP 6.0 EHP 5 and Solution Manager installation, We already have CRM 7.1 template that we can use for CRM installation (Heterogeneous System Copy) but existing CRM platform is Windows and SQL while Target system platform will be Linux and DB2.

Please let me know whether my understanding regarding Heterogenous system copy is correct in my scenario -

Step 1 is making an export of the source system (Windows/SQL) using sapinst.

Step 2 Install the Linux and DB2 software on different box.

Step 3 is installing the target system using the export from step 1 using sapinst.

Can you also provide the link to the standard guide or if someone posted the example document for this scenario so I can complete the prerequsite steps and media required.

Regards

Saurabh Mishra

Hi,

To be sure here is my comment.

1. export db for source system

2. import db to target system using option ast sapinst with installation oof new system

Nice demo is at link

This demo guides you through the export phase of an SAP system copy.

Please be aware that migration must be handle by person who is certified by SAP for OS/DB migration.

Hi,

Yes the sentence is correct.

1.- Stop SAP.

2.- Run the sapinst, go to lifecycle options, System copy, source system --> fill the fields as wich OS go and database.

3.- finish the Export, copy the export disk to the new server

4.- open SAPinst and go to lifecycle options, system copy, target system --> select that the installation process is heterogeneus system copy. -don´t select the backup restore option- fill the fields select the OS and DB platform, give the path of the export disk, wait to finish the sapinst.

5.- Copy the profile of instance and change the parameters like hostame, server etc...

6.- restart the system and test it.
