Dear SAP-B1 Experts,

I have requirement to move SAP B1 (Release 2004A) from existing server into the new machine (reason: hardware upgrade/changing).

Is there any tools like System Copy in ECC or what is the best method to do that?

Best Regards,

Yon

HI

Simply you can take DB back up and restore it in the new server....

OR

If you wanna copy data from one company to another, then you can go for 'Copy express' or DTW...

HI

If you want to use Copy express, follow this link

For data transfer workbench, use this link

http://www.sapvoorkmo.be/information/English/SBO%20Fact%20Sheet%20DTW.pdf

I recommend you to not use copy express for copying bulk BP and item...

Copy express is used to do copy only the configurations, you can copy the transactionc via DTW(Data Tranfer Workbench)

Dear Kambadasan,

Again thanks for you explanation. I very appreciate.

For scenario to move the whole of SAP B1 system from old server to new server, do you think Backup/restore method is the best way?

Hi

i recommend you to upgrade to 8.8,since 2007 will be running out of mainstream soon.

you cannot directly do upgrade from 2004 to 8.8 since you have to do patch by patch....

My opinion is Backup/Restore is the best method for your scenario but you should get installed of SAP b1 8.8 server & client in the new server and then restore the database, after that you need to update it to the current version & PL of the new server...

You get the upgrader patch and check for basic patch to upgrade....

You will also need a new license file from SAP after moving your database.

If I simply bring a backup of the production, the configuration tables will be pointing to the production environment. Such as SLD configurations. How do I adjust this?
