ODBC connection error to a Oracle 11g

I am having problem getting Crystal Reports 2008 to connect to an Oracle 11g R2 database via ODBC. I am able to configure the "Local Net Service Name" with out an issue. I can go into the ODBC connection and create a new connection for the database with no problem. Going into Crystal Reports 2008 I get the following error;

Logon failed

Details: IM003: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error

193: (Oracle in OraClient11g_home1, <Install path>\BIN\SQORA32.DLL). [Database Vendor Code: 160]

Looking into this error most seems to come from that the fact that a 32bit driver was installed instead of a 64bit driver. I do not believe this is the case, here is my environment;

Crystal Computer;

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Crystal Reports 2008 version 12.0.0.683

Oracle client 64bit

Oracle Computer;

RHEL 5 32bit

Oracle 11g Release 2

thanks

Hello,

Crystal Reports is a 32 bit application so it does require the 32 bit client to be installed.

Also, you are on the original release and should upgrade to Service Pack 4.

Easiest is to uninstall your copy, make sure you have the keycode because you will not get a new one, and then do a full install of SP 3:

Then SP 4:

Ok, I am not a 100% sure what exactly fixing it but, installing SP4 (thanks for the links) uninstalling Oracle client 64bit installing Oracle client 32bit solved the issue.

Thanks

Hello,

CR is a 32 bit app therefore it requires the 32 bit client.

Please mark as answered.

Thank you
