Field names to appear in Table maintenance

Hi Gurus,

Need your help...I created a Z-table via SE11 and added all fields via "Data Element". Then I used the Table Maintenance Generator to create table maintenance screens. However, SM30 and SM31 only show plus signs ➕ instead of field names. How can I get the field names to appear in table maintenance?

Thanks

Srini

    Hi Srini,

If the data elements you used for the fields on this Z table are Z data elements, then you can do it as explained by Christian.

If you used standard SAP data elements, then the only way you can achieve this is by modifying the screen layout itself. When you generate the table maintenance, you enter a screen number(1 for one-step maintenance, 2 numbers for two-step). Double click on the screen number which will take you to the dynpro maintenance(SE51). Go to layout and change the field labels there.

    Caution

Everytime you regenerate/modify your maintenance dialogue, you have to do this.

    Regards,

    Srinivas

    Hi Srini,

be sure to maintain all texts of your data elements:

SE11, tab Field label, all four lines. Especially last one 'Heading' is important.

Or chose different data elements with better descriptions.

    Regards,

    Christian

    Hi Srini

Setting data element field labels should do the work.

Moreover, you can modify table maintenance screens. At the "Table Maintenance Generator" screen, double-click to the screen number which will take you the screen painter. There you can modify table control column headings. However, when you regenerate the maintenance screen, your modification may normally be lost, if you are at the final state , you can freely modify it.
