Does autolog writer should be ON?

Hi,

I would like to know the auto log writer should be on ? Maxdb database is growing logsize?

If auto log is off then Database will work fine?

What is the difference between auto log ON and OFF?

Thanks

    Hi,

    Check the statement in the document, below;

    http://www.sapdb.org/7.4/htmhelp/30/5ada20596211d4aa83006094b92fad/content.htm

    If you have created backup media, you can also use the Instance
    menu to activate (Set Auto Log ON) or deactivate
    Set Auto Log OFF) automatic log backups.

    Best regards,

    If you don't switch it to "ON" the log area will run full and the database will halt until there's space again.

      ???

      I'm not sure I understand the issue you have.

      Every finished transaction creates entries in the database log. If the log segment is filled, the database writes the log out to a file. This is what you configure when you set autolog_on.

      Those files are not part of the database but should be backed up and are used to recover the database.
