I am trying to install Windows 2008 Server 64-bit with the Oracle. I am facing a problem on the 19th step : Post-load Activities.

Hi,

What is your Oracle release?

To be sure, check the database and listener is up.

Oracle 10.2.0.4.

The problem is both the database and listener is up, otherwise how can it could have gotten to the 19th stage? Besides, I have already checked that both are up? How is it possible that in spite of a running listener service, why am i getting this error? It is odd...

Is it possible that I am trying to install it on Windows 2008 Server STANDARD rather than ENTERPRISE? Or is it something else?

As I noted that I asked this to be sure about the state. Listener or/and database processes might be crashed after 18th step or at the begining of the 19th step. That's why I asked this.

Now that you are at the post activities, could you logon to the system with <sid>adm user and execute the command on it

E:\usr\sap\SLR\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386\brconnect.exe -u / -c -f crsyn -o SAPSR3

and try to connect to the system with SQLPlus "/as sysdba"

Good question! When I tried running that (unfortunately I am not in front of the same system right now) the command, it did NOT execute successfully. The error was... shoot I cant remember. Need to go back and check but it was definitely not working not with -c or -u option. As far as I remember (I dont remember much) the -u option automatically entered system/********** which did not succeed. The -c option gives the option of entering username/password but I didnt know what to enter. I tried entering <SID>adm/password but that did not work.

However, sqlplus / as sysdba in the "run" dialog box of windows worked perfectly.

Even R3trans didnt show any errors in checking the connection with the database.

Shoot! I guess, the errors in the commands were important. Damn, I'll go home, check and post later? Any ideas till then if my memory is to be trusted?

Hi,

>> The -c option gives the option of entering username/password but I didnt know what to enter.

"-c" means that brconnect does not require a confirmation during the process

>> As far as I remember (I dont remember much) the -u option automatically entered system/********** which did not succeed.

"-u /" means that brconnect will connect to the database with OPS$ mechanism.

At this stage, could you download and patch latest br*tools from SAP Marketplace?

Hi,

For error: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

The ORA-12560 is a collective error caused by different problems related

to the connect log that is used. Please refer to the SAP Note #441518 for solution steps.

Regards,

Vincent
