Goods Issue against Order and Scrap Return

Industry: Heavy Equipment Maintenance

Scenario: Spare(s) are issued against PM(Order), in return identical part is received which has malfunctioned. It is kept in store and then sent for analysis to local vendor to asses weather it is serviceable or not. If so, it is maintained in a separate inventory termed as used part for later use. If it is declared beyond repair it is scraped but maintained in inventory.

Resolution: How we would cater this in Inventory Management?

Please advise!

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

I would use he following steps

    1. Bring the stock to the quality, so that the inventory is not available for any other use,

    2. then assess the material and based on the usage decisision

    3. Scrap using IM movement

    4. post again to good stock if it can be reused.

    regards
