Updating charactieristics with NEW table values

Hi all,

I've had a quick search but didn't find anything suitable...

We have set-up some characteristics and object dependencies (actions) that read values from a VC table. This works OK.

However, when we update the table values in CU60, the respective characteristic values are not dynamically updated.

Is there a standard way to achieve this?

Hi Pete,

CU60 is for variant tables. Characteristic values will not be updated if you change any values in variant table. You set characteristic and define the allowed in tables. Can you please provide more detail on what you are expecting . I could have missunderstood your query.

Hi Amber,

In effect they want to update 1 value in CU60 which then automatically updates around 5000 equipment master characteristics which use that CU60 value.

Hi Pete,

It is not possible to do that. As that will cause serious performance issues. Any time a change is made it will need look at where is it used, Generally there is a report for material variants RCUUPDMATVAR that updates variants if a model is somehow changed. Please look at note 537346. I am not too sure if that will work for equipment, YOu already mentioned your development is blocked otherwise you could have tried the same report by changing MARA to EQUI but that will take a lot of work.

Thanks Amber,

We guessed that we would need to run an LSMW to change the equipment, which in turn will update the Char values

I'll have a look a the program and OSS Note mentioned
