batch input program

Could you please tell, What it is mean by

creating Batchinput program.?

Our boss pointed us that one of our client work

is "creating batch input program".

After reading "migrating your sap data"Book author michael willinger

i understood that Batch input program creation work would be

like flow given in book.(ie uploading data to R/3 system)

1-R/3 system

2-BI recording

3-(generating) ABAP program1

4-(postprocessing)ABAP program 2

5-(executing) BI session

6-(processing towards)R/3database.

so i was thinking work starts with only from Transaction screens and next recording....etc as per above flow.

does my understanding correct? or do we have someother

meaning of doing this work.

Because before going to Client place i need to do some sample program

matching clients work(ie.BIprogram)

ambichan.

    Hello Ambichan,

    I don't see anything wrong with your understanding. And the book that you have followed is one of the best on this subject, besides the online documentation.

    As you are expecting to do it anyways, I strongly recommend that you take an example transaction and try to put into practice what you have learnt. This is very important, because I think everybody who does it for the first time is very likely to run into some problems and it is always better to be well-prepared (before you go to the customer? 😊 ).
