controlling message area height?

Hi,

I want to control message area height.How do we do that.I tried inserting message area in Transparent container with SCROLL Mode ON but is doesn't suite my requirement as scroll bar comes everytime.

Is there any other way to control height of message area?

As far as i know, when you set the max.visible messages to a number x > 0, then the scroll bars will come automatically when you have messages more than the number x. So i guess you do not have to use scroll bar in Transparent container.
