iView security

Freinds:

I am thinking about the security for iViews.

There could be 2 way to implement the security:

1) set the permission on the content (i.e.files) at OS level ;

2) set the security for the iView.

I prefer to use the first one because it's easier to manage.

Could you please share your experience?

Thanks a lot!

Dear EP Person ,

Hope you are doing good.

Security at OS level is a very bad idea in my experience as first of all, end users should never have login to the OS. If so, that will be a BASIS nightmare :).

With portal Iview security, you can provide specific level of authorisations to particular users; please do use this.

Thank you and have a nice day :).

Hi,

Iviews are never stored in file system like Pars and other files. Trying to put security With OS level features and firewall is irrelevant as you wont be able see those files to set permission in the first place.

Secondly, For securing Iviews, We Have UME and Iview Properties and Permissions. If you want to Secure access to Iviews, Dont Give content admin role to any one and assign only to relevant people. If you want certain Iviews to run for Few users Do corresponding role Management In UME.

I dont get why OS is in picture here.

Hi,

Doing security at iView is a prefered way and its easier to manage as well, with this you can restrict the user access for the iView in portal both at runtime and design time.
