Appraisal document creation

Hi,

We are using flexible appraisal process.

In my process we have Creation of team goals by manager which is taken care by web dynpro ABAP. As per my understanding and upon referring some documents I understand that these goals are then available on the appraisal document upon cascading by manager (will it also be available if manager does not cascade - I am a bit curious about this).

Secondly our process step is - Creation of appraisal document needs to be done by the manager. I know we donot have the flexible iviews in place, once we have them we would get a web dynpro application for MSS where the manager can create the appraisal documents. - IS THIS TRUE!!

If yes/no what should we configure in the template regarding status changes. I mean should I configure the IN PREPARATION status with new sub status or how!!!

Please respond how to handle this in config!!

Regards,

Bharat

Hi,

Yes, the manager is able to create documents in the MSS scenario.

How you setup your status flow is up to you. Why would you need a substatus for the "in preparation" phase? As the manager presses the create button teh document is created and the status is going to be "In Preparation". He can maintain additional data if needed (like part appraisers or dates) and then does the status change to "In Planning" to set the goals up for the employee (assuming its an objective setting document).

So you have your normal status flow from "In Prep" to "in Planning".

Sidenote: In Preparation" is the one main status where it does not make any sense to create a sub status.

Thanks Maurice,

I got the answer.

My process would be

1. Create team goals and cascade.

2. Create appraisal document. - status is IN PREPARATION

3. Employee creates individual goals

3. Manager adds individual goals.

according to your answer I understand that the creation of appraisal document sets the document to In Preparation status. That is what I wanted to know mainly!

Now since I know that I would be able to go ahead.

We are also in process to configure the above requirments wherein the manager will create the documents via MSS.

Just a question to Gurus. Is it a best practice to allow ONLY the manager to create the documents, with absoultely no HR intervention to create documents using the backend system? Any inputs will be great here.

Thanks and Best Regards.

Karan,

As of how I see it , there should be a possibility , as it is already there to create appraisal documents on the backend and good thing is that it is accessible for administrator too.

Hi,

What ever you want. Both scenario's are possible. Although when teh manager creates the document HR normally still have access/control over the process.

In my experience though most companies will let HR mass-create all documents and the managers/employees get informed via email with a link to the different documents.
