General Search Engine Error

Former Member

Hello,

I'm getting an error on initial fill of one of my infocube indexes. The fill job seems to run almost to completion. In sm37 I can see that indexes are being loaded and the background processes complete but then I get FILLING_FAILED-->CHECK LOG!!!!

In the index wizard application log i dont get much to go on. I do see "general search engine error;index=bp1_bic:fzssdc00". Next line says "Creation of the BIA index for InfoCube 'ZSSDC0006' terminated while filling".

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this one! Thanks in advance for your help.

What's your BWA version number? Is this happening for all loads, or just to this cube/master data, can you confirm this by loading a very small cube?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. We are on version 7.0. It is definitley only happening for one cube. We roll up indexes for over 20 cubes a night and only one is having trouble.

Hi,

From the context menu of this particular infocube, go to the maintain BIA index option and delete the existing index for this cube. Recreate index and do initial fill up of data.

Try running RSRV check for this cube. When you repeat the load is it always failing at the same place? same time?

I've tried rebuilding the index a few times with the same result. I get the same errors upon initial fill as upon roll-up.

So i ran RSRV and got no errors other than my BIA index is inactive for this cube. Yes the job seems to die at the same place every time. In the monitor I can see there are green lights for the sid tables but the fact and dim tables are all grey or inactive.

Delete the bwa indexes and run stats (if not up-to-date)for the cube and restart the indexes. Possibly this is not going to work but try it anyways.

The other thing you can try is to change global parameters ( from the transaction RSDDBIAMON2, choose BI Accelerator -> Index Settings -> Change Global Parameters.) You can increase BATCHPARA and NUMPROC and try again.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. I tried your suggestions but i'm still receiving the same error messages. We increased the parameters to 10. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Can you give us bit more info, like how big the cube is and a screenshot from the job log just before the failure?

Is this cube compressed recently?

Cheers
