What are the basic steps in configuring a partner determination procedure and partner functions in maintenance and service notification?
Why are both partner determination procedure and partner function assigned to a notification type?
Hi,
The basic steps for configuring a partner determination procedure and partner functions in maintenance and service notification are as:
First Define Partner Determination Procedure & Partner function
IMG Menu path: Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-> Notification Creation -> Partners-> Define Partner Determination Procedure and Partner Function -> Define Partner Determination Procedure
Then Assign Partner Determination Procedure to Notification Type
IMG Menu path: Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->notification Creation -> Partners->Define Partner Determination Procedure and Partner Function -> Assign Partner Determination Procedure to Notification Type
For basic Steps you can check this link..

Partner Function
You define partner functions in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service. They are freely definable and always refer to a partner type. Standard functions exist (for example, goods recipient) and you can also define your own functions.
Partner Determination Procedure
The partner determination procedure is a grouping of partner functions. It specifies which partner functions are permitted or must always be specified for a particular business transaction (for example, for the processing of a service or maintenance order). In Customizing you define the partner determination procedure and assign partner functions to it. If functions are assigned to the partner determination procedure, you can assign the partner determination procedure to an object (for example, to a notification type).
Thanks,
Priyanka

Several partners are usually involved in processing a notification - internal and external partners. The types of partners and their functions can be different for each notification type.
So we need to define partner functions for notification types.
In each partner determination procedure, you define which partner functions are allowed. In doing so, you can specify whether a partner function in a notification can be changed or whether it is a mandatory function.

Hi,
In addition ..the path is SPRO ->PM ->Maintenance and Service Processing ->Maintenance and service notifications ->Notification Creation ->Partners ->Define partner determination procedure ,Assigne partner determination procedure to Notification type & Assign Partner function to notification type ..- in this part u can define approval procedure if required
In addition you have settings for a combination of Parter determination procedure and partner function ..& indivually for each partner function also - these all u can find while defining partner determination procedure ..check those
