BO XI R2 & R3 Installation in same physical machine

Hi,

I am new to this SAP Community. I would like to clarify the below one.

We have already installed BO XI R2 version in our physical machine MS Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2. We need to install BO XI R3 Version in the same machine.

Question 1: Will installing 2 versions of BO in same physical machine impact?

Question 2: We will stop all the servers of BO XI R2 Existing version and installing BO XI R3 in the same machine and will be running only 1 version newer of BO at a time. Do we have any impacts on this?

Please advice on this.Thanks

    Hi,

this environment is really NOT recommended. Please install XI 3.1 on a different machine. Also this setup is not supported.

    Regards

    -Seb.

As a consultant, I have to agree with Sebastian-- you should NEVER try to install XI R2 and XI 3.1 on the same machine. If you need the two versions for testing or a migration, then fire up a virtual server and perform a clean install on two separate VM's.

From a licensing standpoint, if you are on maintenance you are entitled to the next version of the software, but you can't run two production instances at the same time-- there is a "grace" period to allow you to migrate the content from the old version to the new, but you can't run the "old" and "new" servers at the same time.

      Hope this helps!
