New GL- Doc Splitting- how to inherit blank value in a field?

Dear all,

I am new to New GL. Just to check, lets say I have a customized field Field1 as a non-mandatory splitting characteristic. Profit Center is another splitting characteristic and is mandatory. There is no zero-balancing characteristic.

The scenario is this:

In "Document Entry View":

Credit Vendor

Debit Expense, Field1= <blank>, Profit Center = 123

Debit Expense, Field1= 00001, Profit Center = 123

The current splitting will have the following in "GL View":

Credit Vendor, Field1 = 00001, Profit Center = 123

Debit Expense, Field1 = 00001, Profit Center = 123

Debit Expense, Field1 = 00001, Profit Center = 123.

SAP will assign Field1 to the value present in offsetting lines. I do not want this. My expected splitting requirement is:

Credit Vendor, Field1 = <blank>, Profit Center = 123

Credit Vendor, Field1 = 00001, Profit Center = 123

Debit Expense, Field1 = <blank>, Profit Center = 123

Debit Expense, Field1 = 00001, Profit Center = 123

I want SAP to inherit the blank value of Field1 as well. How can I set this in the config? For Profit Center, I do not want to inherit blank value. I am using standard method = 0000000012.

Your suggestions is much appreciated. Thank you.
