S1EM function group

Hello everyone,

I am to use the FM - EM_GET_NUMBER_OF_ENTRIES to get the record count of a database table. The question I have is: this FM belongs to a function group S1EM (EM: Function group 1 final assembly). Do "end users" have authorizations for this function group, generally? I mean, is authorization for this function group very restricted or pretty common.

In case it is very restricted, is there some other FM that can be used to return record count of a database table?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
