This is a system copy scenario
Source System:
Windows 2003 Server 32-bit, ORACLE 9, SAP 470x200, SAP Kernel 620
Intel Pentium based Server32-bit processor
Target System:
Windows 2003 Server 64-bit in a Itanium 2 based Server.
Can I run 32-bit SAP System in this server with Itanium 2 processor?
Is this a Homogeneous System Copy?
Thanks
Hi Johny,
We are going to do a similar thing. Migrate Web AS 6.20 to Itanium 2 64 bit servers. Any SAP notes on this. Also how to make sure if the WebAS 6.20 is 64 bit already or we have to upgrade the kernel.
Regards
Prateek

Hi,
to start with - I'm not an expert on the subject at all. Just happened to know that there is a document describing procedures and tools to use when performing homogeneous or heterogeneous system copy on the SAP Service Marketplace channel (and I thought it might be helpful if you haven't seen it yet.)
Here's how to get the document:
http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Components -> SAP Web Application Server -> Release 6.20 -> System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web AS 6.20
Hope that helps!

Well, you'll have to watch the Kernel - there should be a 64 bit kernel for the system. The kernel SHOULD provide system independence for the SAP part. I'm not sure about the Oracle DB though - do you know if there are changes required to move the db to a 64 bit system? This may dictate the necessity of the kernel change. You should also log a message in OSS to get yourself some backup on the topic.
I would agree with you that the copy is homogenous - are you performing a system copy or export method?
