The ABAP Objects book from SAPpress is pretty good. Also, check out amazon.com for some other ABAP books.

There are some ways to gather information about ABAP programming. But it is obvious that hands-on working is a must. Here are some ways that I can recommend:

1. "ABAP Objects — The Official Reference"

A comprehensive guide to all ABAP language elements

by Horst Keller & Joachim Jacobitz

--> You can find more info from http://www.sap-press.com/H958.html

--> The miniWAS demo system is a good opportunity for hands-on experience

--> The older version "ABAP Objects: Introduction to Programming SAP Applications"

by Horst Keller, Sascha Kruger may also be OK

2. "Sams Teach Yourself ABAP/4 in 21 Days" by Ken Greenwood

--> This may be found from http://www.amazon.com and has a simpler aspect then the book above

3. SAP Educations offered by SAP Education Partners

--> There are various classes. There are some supplementary documents and of course hands-on experience

3. SAP online help: http://help.sap.com

4. There are various sites on the internet about ABAP programming, just make a search and look around.

Hi,

Both the books by SAP Press on ABAP Objects contain a mini version of SAP that gives a runtime environment and ABAP workbench to learn about ABAP and SAP. You can otherwise order miniSAP alone from www.sap.com/shop.

Additionally, if you are interested in learning about JAVA support in SAP WAS, you can download WAS for JAVA from https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/downloadarea.sdn.

Thanks for your reply. I checked the price on sap.shop and its over 3000usd??? Is there any other place where we can get a copy of mini sap for initial learning of ABAP?..Thanks in advance for any help.

The book titled ABAP Objects by SAP Press costs around 50-60 USD and it comes with a 2 CD set containing miniSAP.
